Sick Baby
Olivia is not feeling well. It started yesterday. She slept 'til 9:30!! She's usually up and at 'em by 7 am (sometimes earlier) She seemed to feel fine all day, but I noticed she was more clingy to me than normal. She slept A LOT yesterday. She took at nap at noon then again around 3 and she fell asleep again at 6 slept 'til 8 and was back to sleep at 9 lastnight. Typically she takes 2 naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. She didn't feel warm to me until she woke up at 8 lastnight. I could feel how warm she was thru her clothing. I took her temp and it was 101.5, I gave her Tylenol and took her temp again before she fell back to sleep and it was 97.3. She slept 'til 8:30 today and when she woke up I took her temp again and it was 100.3. I called the doctor and spoke to a nurse. I asked if I could give her more Tylenol per dosage and she said no. If she was 17 pounds I could give her 3/4 tsp, but since she's 16 lbs I have to keep her at 1/2 tsp. She did say I could give her Motrin if the Tylenol doesn't work, but she feels a lot cooler to me now. She's sleeping right now and I am holding her. I don't have the heart to put her in her crib to nap since she's not feeling well. I'd rather hold her so she knows I am close. The nurse also said to keep an eye on her for eating etc...because she does have a slight stuffy nose and she said if it doesn't clear up we may need to see a doctor because she may have an ear infection.

This is gross and you may already know this but just a tip - if she has drainage and it is not clear (like green or yellow) then chances are it is some type of infection - clear can turn into green or yellow later but clear usually is a sign that there's not an infection (yet). Once my kids runny noses start turning colors then I know it's time to get to the dr.
Also, I know it's hard not to give her medicine for the fever, but if my kids' fever is below 102 I usually don't give them any medicine to reduce the fever. Our pediatrician always told us to avoid fever reducing medicine if it's below 102, because a fever is actually a good thing because it is attacking whatever bug she's got going on and a fever can't do it's job if it's reduced by medicine. However, he always said that you don't want it to go too high and at 102 then it starts getting too uncomfortable and to give them medicine. Anyway, that's what I always follow with my kids and honestly I think it helps them get over the sickness quicker.
Oh poor little Angel!! I hope she feels better soon! These nasty colds are going around! Good luck, at least she is getting lots of rest!
I gotta sick one too! He was up all night last night! I hope she feels better real soon!
Bummer, all our little ones are sick lately. Gee, I hope she feels better soon, poor girl. At least Mommy is there to snuggle her and make her feel better!!!
sometimes alternating the tylenol and motrin works better than just using one. but, amy's right, fever is actually a good thing because it means she's fighting off whatever infection she has. i hope she feels better soon!
wow i knew none of that. my dr. said to give them tylenol with a fever, any fever
my kids are the only ones thst haven't been sick....yet
