Crazy European Book Seller Guy

The other day my door knocked, and I usually don't answer the door, but our garage door was open so whoever was knocking knew I was home. I answered the door and it was a European selling books. I had Olivia in my hands (I was getting ready to feed her) and he asked me if he interrupted anything. I said "I am getting ready to feed her" He said "oh, ok, well I will only take a minute" He then asked me if Olivia was a girl or boy....HELLO! I just said I am getting ready to feed HER plus she had on an outfit with flowers on it! Anyways, it gets weirder....Huckleberry was barking and the guy (he told me his name, but it was European) could hardly talk 'cause Huck was barking so loud...he is my guard dog! So then the guy asked me if Olivia was the only child I had and I said yes and he asked me how old she is and I said 4 1/2 months and he asked me "Can she walk yet?" WHAT! I said, no, she is only 4 months old! Then he asked me if she can talk yet! WHAT!! I said, no, she is only 4 months old. He then asked me if she can read!! WHAT!!!! Is this guy a looney tune? I said, no, she is only 4 months old. I literally repeated myself with that exact sentence each time he asked me one of his silly questions. He then said "ok, well, I think she is too young for the books I am selling" and he showed me a a few of them. I said "Yeah, she is only 4 months old" he said he would come back maybe next year! I don't think she'll be reading next year either....

He then asked me if our next door neighbors had any children I told him no, but I pointed to a house that does have a little boy and thought he could harass them a little bit! Since there boy always has his friends over and they ride bikes on OUR driveway (since its long) it really irritates me that his parents don't even ask us if he can ride his bike on our driveway so hopefully the guy was able to harass them too! But, they may be smarter than me and not answer the knock on there door!

Girl you were way nicer than I ever am! whenever some weirdo's come to my door trying to sell something, I get soo irritated that they are bugging me at my home that I make it very obvious and I tell them I am not interested and I shut the door. I hate it when people think they can just come to people's homes and hound them about buying something.....it's sooo freakin annoying and rude! I don't like giving people I don't know information about myself either! For all I know, they could be lying about what they are really up to! The whole thing is just scary and annoying to me!

I am not mean to the Religious groups though, I just hide from them! ha ha

Carebear, you crack me up that you get annoyed that kids ride their bike in your driveway.......I have kids running all over my yard and I love to see that! It's fun to see kids running around having fun and being kids even when my kids aren't out there with them.

I don't even know the parents or the kids that ride there bikes though. I'm not annoyed at the kids, I'm annoyed at the parents who LET them ride there bikes on our driveway without any courtesy. Besides that, if I am backing out of MY garage and there kid is on MY driveway and I accidentally hit one of them, guess who would be in trouble...ME!

I actually agree with Carrie. I love kids too but you get so sick of parents that don't care. Crystal, you watch Daws so if he was in someone's driveway, you would ask him not to or ask the owner. That is very rude. Who do they think they are? They don't have time for their kids so they send them to you. Who would go running out there if one of them got hurt...yep carrie. I think it is terrible and I would ask them not to because you would be liable even if a crack in your driveway makes them wreck. I kid you not.

I ordered from that book company last year and the books are fantastic!! They are very expensive so when she left, I found them on ebay for way cheaper and then cancelled my order.

Yeah I hate it when people come to the door too. I used to hide a lot in Texas, but here if I come to see who it is, they usually see me in the side windows, darn it!!

I have to agree with the majority here about the kids in the yard or driveway. I think it's very disrespectful and rude. Not to mention the liabilities. I would never let me kids run around in someone else's yard. Even when trick or treating, I make my kids follow the paths to the door, not run through the grass like most of the other kids are doing.

Is she riding a bike yet?
I have a book on puberty that would be great for her! Is she there yet?
Here's a book on drivers ed - she'll be doing that soon, right?

Geesh! We get a few of those every summer! I feel for you.

I guess I feel differently because I know most of my neighbors and all the kids run back n forth from our yards playing football with each other. There's a ton of kids and they all play in each other's yards.......it doesn't bother me a bit.

it is also different when you have a long driveway and kids are riding up and down on it. running by it is different.
