Our New Puppy

What a crazy day! My mom called me and told me Amy got a new puppy. After I talked to my mom I called Amy right away to find out all the details. She just happened to be at Kroger where a lady was giving away FREE puppies! The puppy she got was the last one and someone else said they wanted the dog, but since Amy was there and willing to take him the lady gave him to her.

Avery fell in love with him right away and was so happy. Unfortunately Gary was very UNhappy. Amy said they would not be able to keep him and she was going to go back up to Kroger and try to give him away. So, I told her we would take him...CRAZY, I know! But I hate seeing any dog go to someone you don't know and don't know how he would be treated. Plus Matt and I have talked about getting a second dog for years (on and off). I told Amy if Gary changes his mind within the week we will give him back, but after a week we will definitely keep him. I also think now is better than later especially when I get pregnant. I really don't want to deal with a puppy and a new baby all at the same time! So, this way he should be house broken and a little less stressful to take care of once another baby comes along. Gavin named him Jack and I do like the name, but Olivia said she doesn't want to name him Jack. So, we've thought of several names including: Marley, Echo, Copper, Jackson, and Dolce. I think Copper fits him the best,so I think that is what we are going to name him. It might change tomorrow, but atleast he won't know the difference! So far he is very well behaved, but he has cried a little bit. He's had one accident in the house and has gone outside a few times. We won't crate train him, but we will put him in the laundry room when we leave during the day. That's what we did with Huck and he did really well with it. I did try to confine him this evening, but he started crying so loud I was afraid he would wake Olivia. So, he will most likely be sleeping next to the bed....I hope it goes smoothly!
