My friend, Maria, who I work with, went to Italy for two weeks. Before she left she asked me if Olivia needs a rosary. She has one, but not straight from Italy and not blessed by Pope Benedict. Lastnight Maria called me and told me she bought Olivia a rosary and had it blessed by Pope Benedict! It is so beautiful, you can't see it real well in the photo, but it has green and pink flowers on it. She said she took it to the Vadictan along with a couple other rosaries and he blessed the families, their children, their children's children, anyone with sickness and anything they had brought with them was blessed. Its so special to me and Olivia is so lucky to have something so special.
I didn't have to work today, but I went in to look at Maria's pictures and to pick up the rosary. She has a picture of Pope Benedict where she is 4 feet away form him! All of her pictures are beautiful. They visited Capri, Tuscany, and Florence. She has pictures of her son, Jake, in front of St. Peters Cathedral, where he also brought up the gifts for mass! They went to the Coliseum and she captured so much history in her pictures. Her family is from Italy and she visited her father's home where he grew up!
It all looks so wonderful and its definitely on my list of places to go!

how do you just walk right up to the vatican and get something blessed? That is amazing. I wonder how that works, do you know? Can anyone have something blessed or is she speical for some reason? WOW.
Good for you. what a treasure!
What a nice story to go with it.
What an awesome trip! That is a beautiful rosary as well and so nice of her to think of you and Olivia!
Wow, that's sooo awesome!! I love it, it's beautiful!
i think they only do the blessing ceremonies at certain times. otherwise, you can buy things that were previously blessed. I got tanis his cross that way.
it is absolutely beautiful there, and really gives you an appreciation for history, both in general and the history of the church.
how sweet of her to get something so special for olivia. i'm sure that olivia will treasure it when she's older.
