I had a wonderful weekend. Saturday at Gavin's birthday part was the highlight of my weekend and is the highlight of this post. Waking up Saturday morning was like waking up to any morning with the same routine. Before Gavin's party Matt and I went to the library and had to pick up Gavin's present. We got some grub and headed to Gavin's party. We arrived a little early and Olivia was off searching for her favorite person, Avery. I am glad we got there early so Olivia could have Avery to "herself" for a little while.
I was glad to hear that Sonya was coming to the party. We have met in person two times, but never really got to sit down and talk to one another and get to know eachother a little. I was also a little nervous. Mostly because we have only commented and conversed thru blogging. It's a little different to talk to someone rather than through the computer. I am not exactly an outgoing person either. I've been told I can come across as snobbish, but I am not. Its mostly shyness. When Sonya arrived I was in Avery's room watching Olivia play. I didn't know she had arrived until I saw her walking pass Avery's room with my sister. She brought her amazing camera. It is AWESOME with a capital A!
We talked a little bit here and there in the beginning of the night. I knew she didn't know many people there and I wanted to give her some company. I could tell she was "hiding" out in the kids rooms for part of the night, so I tried to make it a point to hang out in the kids rooms with her. She had to watch her kids and I had to watch Olivia, so it was a little hard at times to talk normally! As the night went on we talked more and more. I was so happy at one point of the night she came into the living room and sat down next to me and we talked for a while.
I really feel like I got to know her so much more now. She gave me a lot of good advice and I am going to use the tips she gave me. I found myself so drawn to her that I just wanted to talk to her. I wanted to learn more about her and from her. It sounds almost stalkerish, but I just wanted to hang out with her all night! At one point in the evening I was talking to my sister's sister in law and when I went into Avery's room (looking for Olivia) I found Sonya reading a book to Olivia and another little girl. Olivia was so intrigued by Sonya, and she doesn't warm up to people very easily. She even sat on her lap for a couple minutes! The only time Olivia got upset is when she thought Sonya was going to leave with her! Sonya picked her up to look out the front door and Olivia thought she was going to walk off and leave without me!
When we left the party I felt so good, and it was mostly because of Sonya! I am so happy that we got to know one another better. She is an amazing person and I am so grateful to be able to call her my friend. Not just a friend in the blog world now, but a true friend.

Oh Carrie! That made me cry. That was the sweetest thing! I felt the same way. I always liked you but I never thought we had a thing in common.
I saw your depth so much on Saturday and we never spoke about anything serious or deep. I saw your intense love for Olivia and it reminded me again of your stance on abortion and how you fought so hard for it. I have passion like that (duh huh?) and I love seeing other people's. The difference in appearance, social status and fashion know how melted away. I was drawn to you just like you were!
Thanks for helping me fit in there too. I have to admit, i told my husband after the first hour that I wanted to come home. Later, i was having fun.
I am certainly your real friend and I will always be here if you need me. LOVE YOU GIRL!! Thanks for the post too, I appreciate it more than you can know!
I'm glad you guys got to know each other better.
