Pain In The Butt

On Sunday evening Olivia had a HUGE bowel movement. I mean, she passed a you know what the size of a mouse! I am not kidding. I have never seen something so big come out of a tiny butt. After she was done she started crying. It was partially because I had put a diaper on her for the night (bedtime) because she wanted to do it in the potty. She kept saying "Me potty in toy toy" (toy toy is toilet) It was also because it caused her pain. I hadn't realized it has caused her pain until yesterday. When she had her bowel movement yesterday she started crying again and told me her butt hurt. When I wiped her butt she started yelling "No mommy" because it hurt so bad and she was asking me to put lotion on it. I put some aquaphor all over her crack. Today when she went she started crying yet again and told me her butt hurt. I asked her if I could look at it and she said "No, Huckleberry look at my butt" She wanted Huck to look at it. Needless to say he is useless in the matter! I called the nurse call line at the pediatrician's office and the nurse advised me to do what I had already been doing. She said to give her plenty of water and juice. More fruits to soften things up a little. Her poo poo hasn't been hard nuggets. Its actually been softer than normal, so I think she might have a little bit of a tear from the HUGE load she left on Sunday. I haven't seen any blood and when she finally did let me look at her behind it looks normal. I don't see a hemorhoid or fissure, just a little redness. The nurse said if it doesn't get better in a day or two to call back and the doctor will take a look and prescribe miralax.

Oh goodness. What concerns me is that she really did some damage pushing it out. One of our blogging friends who will remain nameless, pushed out stool and ended up with surgery because of damage to that area. Hopefully that didn't happen.

Hopefully it is more of the memory of pain more than "new" pain. Ya know how kids remember that stuff and associate it with pain for a long time...goodness I hope so. The fact that there was no blood helps with the rip question but not damage. Wow, keep us posted.

I will pray for her right now.

A warm bath always helps soften things up for Sawyer so you might want to try that.

Miralax is what Daws is on and so is my father inlaw. It seems to help alot. Constipation and hard stools are very very painful......Daws used to hold his bowels cause he was afraid it was gonna hurt again! I hope she gets better......you could see if she drink some prune juice or something, that should help too. Poor baby girl!
