Prayer Request
Today I went to Sam's Club for a routine eye exam. It was my first time going to Sam's optometrist, but I have heard good things about it and wanted to give it a try. The optometrist is very nice and it was pretty quick. I walked in without an appoinment and I was able to get in pretty quickly. I didn't want to get my eyes dialated because I hate not being able to see when they are dialated so I declined on my paperwork. As the doctor was examining my eyes he asked me if it was ok to dialate my eyes. UGH! I thought to myself, but then he explained he saw something in my exam and wanted to dialate my eyes to get a better look. So, I sat for about 10 minutes while the drops kicked in and then went back into the exam room and he looked at my eyes again. He found holes and tearing in my retinas in both of my eyes. He thought it could be retina detachment or something else (I can't remember). Worse case was my retinas being detached. So, after some discussion he referred me to an opthamologist. I was able to be seen at 3 pm by the opthamologist. My dad came over to work on the basement today, but came with me to my appointment so he was able to watch Olivia for me. We went to the opthamologist, he looked at my eyes and unfortunately I have bilateral retina detachment. I cried a little bit when he told me this. I am scared. He did tell me that they are both inferior, meaning they are detached at the bottom so I have gravity on my side. The opthamologist referred me to a retinal specialist (which I see on Monday). He told me to not do anything strenuous and to sleep with my head elevated. So, I see the retinal specialist on Monday at 2 pm and he/she will decide what will happen from that point. Please keep me in your prayers and pray everything turns out ok. I am fortunate to have found this going on just by chance. The opthamologist said this is something that has been going on for awhile. It makes me question my previous optometrist.

Kevin said Dr Petterson is the best retina doctor in the country and he is at cincinnati eye institute. He has a LOT of work done there, they are great!
my dad went through retinal detachment last summer. it was rough at first, but after a few weeks, it was all okay. it's actually a fairly common problem, and pretty easy to fix.
