Twilight

I finished a really good book Monday evening. Maria, who I work with, told me about the book a few weeks ago. She told me how good it is and that I wouldn't be able to put it down. She was right. I started it last Tuesday and finished it Monday! Its 497 pages! I've never finished a book that quick!

The book is about a 17 year old girl named Bella who moves from Phoenix, AZ to Forks, WA. She struggles with adjusting to the weather. She hates how much it rains in Washington and misses sunny Arizona. She is in a new school and she meets a few friends easily. There are 4 kids, the Cullens, who are all related and they keep to themselves. However, they are so beautiful that its hard for Bella to keep from staring at them...especially Edward. She first sees the four of them at lunch and her friend, Jessica warns her that Edward has never shown any interest in any girls, almost like he is too beautiful for anyone. It turns out that Bella is in the same Biology class as Edward they are assigned sitting next to eachother. The first encounter with Edward is really bad. He ignores Bella completely and stays as far away from her as he possibly can. His eyes are black when she first meets him and he moves away from her so quickly that she forms a complex. Wondering why he hates her and she never talked to him. Bella runs into Edward later on that day and he is trying to change his classes to avoid her. He's unsuccessful so the next few days he doesn't show up to school.

After missing school for a few days Edward returns, but this time his eyes are auburn in color and he is very nice to Bella. He apologizes for the way he acted and basically wants to start over. They become friendly with one another and Bella looks forward to seeing Edward everyday and she is disappointed when he doesn't go to school. She was falling for him.

As the book progresses Bella learns that Edward and the rest of the Cullens are vampires. Edward explains why he wanted to stay away from Bella. Its because her blood smells so good and its hard for him to resist her. Since he's a vampire he has learned not to drink human blood, but blood of animals. That way he can co-exist with humans. They live in Washington since it rains a lot and its dreary they are able to come out during the day. When he eats his eyes get lighter.

I don't want to spoil the entire book, but basically they fall in love with eachother and they learn how to love eachother and Edward resists killing Bella for her blood.

I am now on the second book called "New Moon" its the sequel to "Twilight". It has started pretty much where it left off. I started reading it lastnight, so we'll see how long it takes for me to read it! Its easy reading too.

It might not be something that sounds interesting, or good, but it really is. Its very romantic.

I just read a review for this book in Time Magazine of all places. It got a really good write up. My niece is reading it and she likes it a lot. I may check it out! I have gotten into Nicholas Sparks - I never thought I would!

After you told me about this book I tried to get it at the library this week but there is already a waiting list for it. Must be very popular!! I put my name on the list though so as soon as it's in I will get it. Sounds very good! There's nothing better than a good book that you can't put down!! I have read a couple books by Jodi Picoult recently and hers are like that!

That sounds interesting. The only reading I"m doing at this point, is out loud to the children. We're reading things like the Chronicles of Narnia, a Christian book called the Hedge of Thorns (quick read and sooo good), Black Beauty, The Little Pilgrims Progress, Treasure Island, things like that. Even that is more reading than I've done in the past few years, so I'm pretty pleased with it!
