Its A Beautiful Day

Our weekend was interesting. It was fun, but a little interesting too! Friday Matt got home from work around 12:30. He took four hours vacation since it was his last day at his old position. He cut the grass just in time for it to pour down rain! While he cut the grass me and Olivia went to Kohl's. My intention was to buy her a pair of white sandals, but Kohl's doesn't sell sandals in her small foot size. Either they are newborn size or they have gym shoes in a size 3, but not sandals. Since they didn't have her size shoe I bought her an outfit instead! They had a ton of things on sale so I bought her a pair of shorts for $4.50 and a really cute tank top for $9, which $9 for a shirt is a little expensive, but I like it too much to pass it by! When we got home we went to Crestview Hills Town Center and we were planning on walking around, but it started pouring down rain. So, we ate at Carrabba's and went home.

Saturday we ran around. I wanted to check out Babies 'R Us to see if they had any shoes I liked, plus I had a coupon. I found a pair of sandals, plus two more outfits! EEK! Only the outfits I bought her are FULL outfits (shorts and a shirt) and they were buy one get one 1/2 off! So, I bought her two outfits for $14. I wasn't real happy with the sandals so we went to Target which I already knew I liked a pair there. Why we didn't go there in the first place beats me. I wound up buying her the pair at Target even though they are a size 4 (they didn't have any size 3's in the style I wanted) but I figure these will last her all summer if her foot grows.

Saturday afternoon for the Kentucky Derby we went over to our new neighbors house (the one with the 7 kids) I met her (Susie) a couple weeks ago and she invited us over. We thought it was a good idea to atleast say hi for a few minutes and watch the derby. It was very interesting. I honestly don't know how they live with 9 people in one house. Their house is smaller than our old house (atleast it felt that way) and they have 5 bedrooms! We met her husband, Chris, who is Korean. Which explains why there 5 year old boy, Gavin, looks like he was adopted! All the other kids look like Susie for the most part, dark hair, fair skinned, except for Gavin!! They also have a 13 month old named Decker. Now, their house is a bi-level and we were upstairs for most the time and Decker is walking. They don't have a gate at the top of the stairs! It was making Matt and myself a nervous wreck! Decker was literally walking so close to the edge of the stairs and Susie wasn't paying any attention to him! Of course we wouldn't let him fall down the stairs, but still....the same thing happened when we were out on the deck. He was walking around the deck and neither of his parents were paying any attention to him. I guess they're used to it having 7 kids, but come on!!! The youngest one is named Elena and she is 8 weeks old. I only saw her for a minute because Chris' dad was taking care of her in her bedroom the entire time. All I have to say is its going to be interesting this summer!

We watched the derby and it was bittersweet....I cried when I heard they had to euthanize Eight Bells. After the derby we walked back home and reflected on our interesting new neighbors!

Sunday we went to the park right down the road from us. Olivia LOVED it! It was our first time there and we will be going there alot this year. I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pics of Olivia playing, but I will remember next time. After the park we came home and grilled out for lunch and then we ate ribs for dinner! It was a great weekend.

I'm confused about your neighbors, who is Chris' dad and why do all the kids look like susie except the one who looks Korean.........I didn't follow that at all! ha ha Sorry! My brain is slow.

I'm glad you all had a good weekend, lets see the shoes and outfits please!!!

Steps always made me and shawn very nervous too. You know what's funny though, have you ever noticed that the people who are sooo careless with that stuff rarely have bad accidents happen but people who are usually very saftey concious, look away for a split second and an accident happens?? It's very strange!

I've come to realize that having lots of space in a house isn't required to have lots of kids. When we were in Gatlinburg last year, we saw an old home from the 1800's that was just two rooms, 1 room for cooking and eating, and the other for sleeping, yet they had 9 kids. And while they may have been happy with more space, they obviously didn't need it to survive. I think we've all gotten spoiled by our big rooms and 1 kid per room, that now, one room for 11 people seems just crazy. I know my perspective on that has changed a lot. I hope they are happy, they should feel so blessed to have so many gifts.

Oh boy Crystal! If you read my post I said that we met Susie's husband, Chris and he is Korean. Their boy Gavin looks like he was adopted because he is the only one who looks like his dad, who is Korean! Chris' dad was at the derby party and he was taking care of the youngest. Get it??

Glad you had a good weekend. I know I became less vigilant when the second kid came around, although I don't think I was ever that bad!! When I see your title of your post I keep hearing that U2 song in my head.

That's why I made my post title that! It made me think of the song too!
